What is Normandy Architecture? Normandy architecture was created in 1919-1920 in Normandy and the Loire Valley of France and it is a style that is still popular today.  The architect is unknown. Normandy houses are usually pretty large and they are often 2-3 stories Almost all Normandy style houses are made out of stone, brick, and small amounts of timber wood. 3 Most Common Features of Norman Architecture: 1.Central round tower atop a cone shaped roof  2. Steep Roofs and High Ridgelines  3. The use of timber artistically placed in the design.
Normandy Architecture Information Normandy architecture uses vertical lines to show stability, it also uses a consistent use of wood, stone, and brick throughout the design to show unity, and the houses have regular rhythm because arches and patterns are used regularly throughout the design. Normandy Architecture is used to design residential homes. Normandy style architecture is mostly found in Normandy and the Loire Valley of France.  However, recently there has been construction of Normandy style homes in Dallas, Texas.
