This document provides guidelines for transferring information from non-linear to linear forms such as summaries and reports. It discusses different types of charts and graphs that can be used such as pie charts, bar charts, line graphs and tables. It then provides two formats for writing summaries and reports, beginning with the title, introduction, trends identified in the data, analysis of trends and figures, and a conclusion. An example is given of a bar chart showing how difficult different subjects are perceived by students at a Malaysian university, and outlines for a report analyzing the trends in the data.
