Nome, Alaska is a city of 4,500 people located on the Bering Sea coast. It was founded in 1901 during the Klondike Gold Rush after gold was discovered. The majority of residents are Native Alaskan Inupiat people. Nome can only be accessed by plane as there are no roads connecting it to other areas.
