Point Barrow, Alaska is the northernmost point in the United States and a region where polar bears are often seen, as it is located above the Arctic Circle. Remnants of ancient Inuit culture and whale bones on the beaches show that Point Barrow has long been an important area for wildlife and human settlement. It is one of the few places people can stand and be the farthest north location while keeping their feet on dry land in North America.
