Poems About the World
Poems About the World
      By Nico Millana
Forest
  Trees, towering
    Above you
   The sparkling
Appearance of dew
Green like a cactus
 Not like a moose

                      2
This poem wasn’t as good as most of my
poems. It is very short because I couldn’t
think of any more to say and that I had to
finish it at a very short time. The tool I used
is Simile.
Desert
Surviving the desert is

Hard work

Searching for a city is

A lot of footwork

Water in the desert

Is very rare

In the desert at night

Will give you a scare

Not many animals are

Living there

                          4
This is one of my favorite poems! There are
so many rhymes in including a three-line
rhyme. Which is why I chose the tool,
Rhyme.

                    5
Ocean
Bloop, bloop the bubbles of fish

People serve them in a dish

                 We should sustain

              The marine creatures

                  The school of fish

                Don’t have teachers

Ocean’s filled with tons of life

All of them are all wildlife

I used Onomatopoeia for this poem. This
poem is sort of about sustainability.
Something like protecting the sea or ocean.
The picture of the ocean is one of the best
pictures I have in this anthology.

                    7
Swamp
A swamp is a smelly,

slimy forest

An ugly forest that

has been possessed

I wonder if there are

alligators in there

You stay overnight,

you hug Teddy Bear

Maybe you couldn’t survive the swamp

You’re walking on mud, you shouldn’t stomp!

                        8
For me, it was a dark poem due to the
picture which makes the swamp look sad.
Don’t laugh, but I think I hurt the swamp’s
feelings. The tool is Metaphor

                     9
Animals

   10
Animals
    Carnivore, herbivore, omnivore

Some of them squeak, some of them roar!

From young ones to old ones

         For just a few months

When they get older, they start to hunt,

Start to walk, and start to grunt

        Some of the animals are

          Endangered species

These kind of animals need more peace

                   11
Again, this is sort of about sustainability. I
really, really love this poem. That’s because I
love animals. I chose to put a carnivore and
a herbivore in one picture--not really one
picture--to make it look like all the animals.
The tool I used is Beginnings/Endings.

Reflection
This anthology was fun! But some parts of it were
very annoying because I have to keep doing things
over and over again.
I think that I did a great job on constructing poems
and a presentation related to a theme.
I hope you enjoyed my presentation on “Poems
About the World”. Try this at home!
