Nature Poems

Sun

A yellow ball in the dark blue sky

Rays of fire shine in every direction

Hot as a freshly baked pie

Straight out of the oven

Providing a cozy blanket of light.
Response

I used simile and the observation door. I wrote
this one about the sun when I was at the beach.
It was easy since I had written 5 poems about
this. I also had some help from the green poem
book that Mrs.Melhorn gave us.
Nature

Mother Earth’s child

The human supplier

The one thing we need for our survival

If it’s that important why do we destroy it?
Response

I used world issues door. I wrote this because
wanted to let people know the importance of
nature. This was hard for me because I was not
very sure what to write about.
Sea
Huge waves crash upon the shore

The sound like a thousand dictionaries

                                  Falling all at once.

Sea gulls squawk over the sound of the waves

    Squawk Squawk Squawk

Flying in the bright blanket of sunlight

Children run in and out of the waves screaming.

Don’t go into the water mom says. Why is she so protective?
Response

I used the SIX door poem and a little bit of
repetition. I wanted to do a happy memory and
I really liked this time (besides the part when I
was not allowed in the water). It was not too
hard to write it since I find happy memories
easier.
Trees
As tall as a giant

Ancient

covered by a blanket of leaves

they dance in the wind

the tree branches reach for the

sapphire sky dotted with vanilla colored clouds.
Response

I used the metaphor, personification and
Observation’s Door. This poem was easy because
I just had to think of all the things I thought
about when I saw a tree. I made a list. (Covered
in leaves, Old, leaves flying, tall, branches,
crumbling so on). I picked out the stuff I liked
and highlighted it in yellow.
The Start of the Day
The bright sunlight fills the sky

The sun a giant lightbulbs

Flicking on flicking off

Brightness overcomes the blanket of darkness that was night

The shiny darkness that was the moon is the sun

the golden stars are ice cream colored clouds

It is the start of a new day.
Response

I used metaphor and simile. This poem was hard
to write because I did not have any idea what to
write about in this poem. I think that this took
the longest to write.
Fish and Shark
The fish zooms through the dark murky water

A shark follows hard on its tail

The water parts to let it through

the fish zooms up and down

The shark follows with out the slightest hesitation

CHOMP!!
I used the observation door. I wrote this when I
saw a shark eating a tuna fish (it was already
dead) at an aquarium. I did not want to watch as
the shark ripped it apart.
Ending Reflection

I chose this topic because all of my poems were
about nature. I had 10 poems and 9/10 were all
about nature my other poem Light bulb was the
only one that I liked not about nature. You can
find it on my blog with two other poems Sea and
Robin. I think I am a better poet than I thought.
