News is difficult to define as it has many variables. News must be factual, but not all facts are considered news. News primarily concerns people - what they say and do. For an event or situation to be considered news, it must be timely, interesting to a large number of readers, and understandable to those readers. Additionally, news stories are more newsworthy the more recent they are, the more impactful the event is, and the closer the event is to the readers. Conflict, emotion, and consequence make stories more appealing and newsworthy.

News is difficult to define as it has many variables. News must be factual but not all facts are news, and it may include opinions of authorities. There are two main types of news: hard news which is important and timely, often about government or politics, and soft news which entertains and appeals more to emotions. For a story to be considered news, it must be factual, interesting to readers, and recent. Reporters aim for objectivity and balance by including all significant details.
How to handle sensitive issues in news reporting
News is an essential part of modern societies that allows people to understand events and issues. There is no single definition of news, but it generally refers to a timely account of an event, issue, or person that interests audiences. Key attributes of newsworthiness include timeliness, impact, prominence, proximity, uniqueness, human interest. When reporting on sensitive issues involving race, ethnicity or religion, journalists have a responsibility to get facts right and represent all sides fairly to avoid inflaming tensions. Checklists for responsible reporting of sensitive issues include ensuring a story is true, fair, and will make a difference rather than spread rumors.

There are 4 phases of wound healing: hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling. This document also describes the mechanism of wound healing. Factors that affect healing include infection, uncontrolled diabetes, poor nutrition, age, anemia, the presence of foreign bodies, etc.

- 1. News Values Journalism A journalist is someone who reports “the news,” but how does he or she determine what that is? Editors must determine what stories to run, but how do they choose what is most important? Both start by identifying the “news values” of a story or topic. Sometimes called “news criteria,” these identify what makes the story “valuable” as “news” for the audience.
