In Greece, New Year's Eve traditions include children singing carols and receiving money and sweets. On January 1st, which is also St. Basil's day, children believe St. Basil brings presents at night while they sleep. Families have festive meals on New Year's Day that may include stuffed chicken, turkey, pork, or rice as a symbol of prosperity. After the meal, they eat Vasilopita cake which has a coin inside, and whoever finds the coin will have good luck in the new year. The first visitor of the new year is believed to bring the family luck throughout the year.
