Surprisingly many web developers don't realize that Javascript ecosystem is not the same as it was few years ago, when building a single-page web application was considered risky business.
Those times are way behind. Modern javascript MVC frameworks are if not silver, but certainly solid bullets which every person who wants to use benefits of evolution should be aware of.
I'll tell you about challenges that happen when you build a single-page application, about REST interface, and certainly about one of such frameworks: AngularJS, created by hackers from Google keeping in mind best software development principles such as TDD and dependency injections. That's why writing with AngularJS is such a pleasure.
Let's talk about web typography!

With ever-changing legislation and the array of reporting requirements imposed on individuals, companies and employers, it can be a challenge to stay on top of the various deadlines and key dates. A presentation about webfont services and how to stop using the same old 15 web-safe fonts we've been using for two decades. Examples from four webfont providers: FontSquirrel, Google Font API, Typekit, and Extensis WebINK. Includes implementation details.
Web fonts offer great flexibility for brands and designers to use a wider range of fonts online.
Using a custom font on the web was only achievable through various techniques, all with certain limitations. Most designers opted to stick with Web Safe Fonts – which are fonts that are already installed by default across different operating systems.
In the beginning, web designers only had a handful of typefaces at their disposal to use in their designs. Then Flash and Javascript allowed unlimited fonts but lacked accessibility features. In the past year, it seems we finally have a winning solution: the @font-face method which has support from all major browsers and does so using only HTML and CSS.
Meanwhile, a second conversation is happening amongst those who actually own the fonts – the foundries. Would these emerging technologies ensure that their typefaces could not be easily copied from the web? Unfortunately @font-face is still not widely accepted by most foundries. Some allow you to use a hosted service like TypeKit, or you can venture into the burgeoning movement of open source and commercial-free fonts and enjoy free rein over your web typography.
A talk about how far fonts have come on the web and why this is the beginning of a new age for using beautiful fonts everywhere.

Solving the Challenges of Asian Web Fonts by Bill DavisMonotype
Solving the Challenges of Asian Web Fonts
Monotype’s Bill Davis was honored to give a presentation at the ATypI Hong Kong 2012 Conference titled “Solving the Challenges of Asian Web Fonts.” When he looked at the top 1000 websites, he found that 10 to 15 percent are already using Web fonts. But for East Asian languages and scripts, only a handful has started to deploy Web fonts. His AtypI presentation, provided here as a slideshare, examines the two primary challenges for developers of Asian websites: 1) Website design issues and 2) Asian Web font file sizes.
His experience with the broad range of language and script support available in Fonts.com Web Fonts service has allowed him to gain insights into early adoption of non-Latin and Asian Web fonts by Web designers and developers.
This slideshare reviews some of the main benefits of Web fonts, no matter the language or geographic market for your audience, are:
• Establish typographic consistency
• Improve user experience
• Eliminate the use of text as graphics, improve workflow
• Enhance SEO, accessibility

Given at the Western MA WordPress meetups, 5/30/12. A short presentation on webfonts. The talk featured a brief introduction to webfonts, considerations for picking the right webfont, and integrating webfonts into WordPress.
The fifth rendition of my Beautiful Web Typography with some updates, additional info, more links and whatnot. A new section has been added focusing on webfonts (font linking and embedding) with the recent developments in that regard.
Kudos should go out to the chaps listed in the end as well as inspirational peeps like Ellen Lupton, whose categorisation of things type into letter, text, grid I’ve used to structure this talk.
