Rahul Agarwal and Manish Kumar presented a comparative study on ring oscillator performance for ultra wide band and low power applications. Ring oscillators are important for generating high frequency clocks in wireless systems operating below 5G. They constitute critical components in radio frequency transceivers, providing periodic signals for timing and frequency translation. This paper compares CMOS ring oscillator and current starved voltage-controlled oscillator architectures in terms of power consumption, phase noise, tuning range, technology used, and supply voltage to determine the best design for ultra wide band systems.
