Malin Kundang lived on an island off the coast of Sumatra with his mother. As he grew up, he wanted to work on a neighboring island. His mother allowed it but warned him not to forget her if he was successful. Malin Kundang prospered on the new island but forgot about his mother. When she came to see him in his success, he denied that she was his mother. As punishment for his filial disrespect, Malin Kundang was turned into a large stone by his mother's curse.

island. but his mother does not agree, but eventually her mother allow it.
"Mother, I want to work on other islands. Mom let me do" says Malin
Kundang.
"It is allowed, but remember this message, if successful you do not forget the
mother"said her mother
"Yes mother. Thank you" said Malin Kundang.
Malin Kundang then work on another island. after his success, he forgot his
own islandwith her mother had she lived.
"Who are you" said Malin Kundang.
"My mother master" the mother said.
"You might not my mother" says Malin Kundang
"Bring myself to admit I do not want your mother" the mother said
heard of it, cursed his mother Malin Kundang it into a big stone
and Malin Kundang turned into a big stone.
