The legend of Malin Kundang is about a boy named Malin Kundang who leaves his mother to work on a ship against her wishes. Years later when Malin returns a wealthy man, he denies knowing his poor mother. As punishment, Malin is turned to stone by the gods. The complication arises when Malin rejects his mother. This leads to the resolution where Malin is turned to stone for his actions. The story aims to teach the importance of honoring one's mother.

3. A long time ago, in a small town beside
the beach in West Sumatra, lived a
woman and her child. They were Malin
Kundang and her mother. Her mother
was a lone parent because Malin
Kundang's father had passed away when
he was a baby.
One day, there was a large ship rests
in his village. Then the captain of the
ship offered to anyone who wants to
be a crew. Malin Kundang interested
to following the invitation of the
captain. Then he asked permission to
her mother, but she not give
permission. Because his mother
worried. Malin yet still forcing, and
then left her alone

4. Then his mother came and yelled,
"Malin! Malin! My son, then
hugged tightly Malin. Then, with
strong Malin releasing the mother's
arms and said, "Who are you? I do
not know you. Who are you calling
a son? I'm a rich man. Where
possible I had a poor mother?

disappointed with the words of
Malin Kundang. Then his mother

want to admit me as your mother,

beautiful wife. then the ship
rests on the beach near the
village. villagers knew that he
was Malin Kundang. later,
some villagers approached the
ship Malin and some were
again went to the house of
Mrs. Malin and said that
Malin has returned

flashing. Malin then kneeled in front of her
mother. his body slowly hardened into rock.
Malin said, "Mother, I'm sorry! I regret my words.
I'm sorry". However, too late for Malin to regret
his word. Because he had become completely
stone. His mother could only weep to see his son
who had become stone.
