2. YouTube
• Video sharing websites like YouTube allowed
us to quickly find a vast quantity of
documentary’s that cover diverse styles.

3. From this we learnt what aspects of different
documentaries would work and would fit our
project.
We decided on the expository style of
documentary film making as we observed that
most of the documentaries that covered similar
topics used this style of film making.

4. WordPress
Having a way of documenting and cataloguing
our projects progress was also important. So
having a website like WordPress was extremely
useful.
It is free and easy to use and enabled us to
review our work from teacher and audience
feedback.

5. Photoshop
My personal favourite
piece of new media
technology.
My work with Photoshop
produced some of the
visual effects on the video
itself. For example as Arran
and Sean are introduced
you see an artistic overlay
that fades into moving
video.

6. This effect was achieved
by taking a print screen for
our video then applying a
cut-out filter with a
rainbow vector pattern
applied to it from a
Photoshop blending layer.
Then all that was needed
was to match it up with
the right frame in the
video. This worked well
with Arran’s interview as
the camera was stationary
thus making the transition
smooth, but Sean’s was a
little flawed as the
transition had to occur
over a moving camera.
