Summary
An internal combustion engine with variable displacement and/or compression ratio for optimum combustion
conditions and providing adaptive power to the engine load. The existing solutions, tested in laboratory conditions,
ensure an increase in power by about 30% and significantly reduce fuel consumption, but are not able to achieve the
variable displacement. The present solution provides both a variation of displacement and compression ratio.
Product
The engine uses a reversible mechanism - type with multiple rods, which transform reciprocating variable
translational movement of the piston into continues rotary motion, with continuous varying TDC (top dead center)
and BDC (bottom dead center) positions. The volume of combustion chamber is adjusted in inverse relationship with
the engine displacement to obtain prescribed compression ratio and optimum combustion conditions, depending on
engine load.
