First phase – Holland and EC+10 Brazilians came to Holland. In a diverse team of 13 people we emerged into the many themes, but mostly into the Earth Charter. During the 5 day program the group worked on a case of The Hagues ‘most sustainable community’ Erasmusveld, delivering an advise looking at the social aspects of sustainability. This was presented at EC+10

Second phase – Learning journey to Bahia (Brazil) (1/2) The second phase brought the Dutch to Brazil and as a team they mainly took up a challenging business case. The challenge was to see how Bahia could strengthen a sustainable development strategy while there is a huge risk of strong unsustainable develop-ment through the development of a harbour in the tropical forested coast.

Second phase – Learning journey to Bahia (Brazil) (2/2) After going through a deep multi-stakeholder proces based on the Utheory they delivered advise on three levels; - A systemic model to work from (based on EC) - An advise on how to strengthen sustainable tourism as a key factor for development A brand plan for the cocoa coast to attract investors for the region
At the end We had a satisfied customers (the local NGO to implement the advise and satisfied participants with the results and the learning experience…

Third phase – in-company case Presently we’re in the phase where the learnings are translated into the company cases each participant delivered to the program. They make use of coaching, extra hosted sessions, the webspace and external EC-advisors. November 26 th they present their result/learning

Next steps and needs After the succesful pilot of this program we aim to replicate it to keep building a generation of EC leaders. In order to do so we need extra (financial) support for following programs and to create a handbook with methodologies, interviews, lessons learned and best practices.
