The NESHEP annual site visit was held at the Caterpillar site in Peterlee. Attendees were given a safety induction and tour of the facility led by Derek Quarmby. Members saw the 17 stage manufacturing process for articulated trucks, including robotic plasma cutting technology. The site was very clean and well organized, with 97% of waste being recycled. Attendees found the visit extremely interesting and left with a better understanding of the truck manufacturing process at Caterpillar. The next NESHEP meeting will be held in October at the usual venue in Redcar.
