NCompass Live: New Opportunities to Retain Wealth in Nebraska Communities: Transfer of Wealth Study

In 2002, the Nebraska Community Foundation published the first statewide, county-by-county Transfer of Wealth study in the nation. Now, that pioneering study has been refreshed with 2010 Census data and updated methodology. According to the new study, about $230 billion will pass from one generation to the next in rural Nebraska over the next 50 years. Retaining even a small portion of that wealth for philanthropic purposes close to home is an historic opportunity for our state and for people who care deeply about the places they call home. Jeff Yost, President and CEO of the Nebraska Community Foundation, will address the new study and the massive opportunity it presents for building strong communities across Nebraska. Resumo
Este estudo se propõe a identificar o efeito das estratégias de marketing utilizadas pelos
supermercados no processo de conquista e fidelização de clientes, foi escolhido um supermercado na
cidade de Pato Branco-PR para ser estudado. A metodologia utilizada trata-se de uma pesquisa
exploratória, através de um variado referencial bibliográfico, e pesquisa de campo, com a aplicação de
questionários junto aos gerentes supermercadistas e consumidores. Trabalhou-se o referencial teórico a
partir de uma bibliografia técnica, de autores clássicos do marketing e de artigos específicos. O estudo
percorreu as abordagens do marketing e as formulações estratégicas voltadas para o varejo em geral e
o supermercado em particular, até aportar no fenômeno do supermercado de vizinhança. Os resultados
do trabalho de campo serviram para o balizamento das conclusões, onde se identificou o composto
estratégico utilizado pelos supermercadistas e seus efeitos percebidos pelos consumidores. As
conclusões que se tirou deste estudo respondem, de modo satisfatório, aos objetivos do trabalho, pois
foi possível conhecer as ferramentas de marketing apropriadas e o impacto das ações empregadas na
conquista e manutenção de clientes nas lojas dos supermercados vizinhos. Observou-se que o
consumidor valoriza a marketing de fidelização, visto que, selecionamos o mercado que melhor aplica
o marketing na cidade na opinião dos entrevistados para usar como base para elaboração deste
trabalho e os resultados foram coesos com as políticas de marketing diferenciadas do mercado.

Since 2012, the Kreutz Bennett Donor-Advised Fund has granted over $665,000 to Nebraska's small-town public libraries through a term endowment established by the late Shirley Kreutz Bennett, a lifelong educator originally from Harvard, Nebraska. Thanks to this generous support, dozens of libraries have launched projects to repair, renovate, or replace existing facilities, create programs that enhance library services, and importantly, prepare libraries, boards and directors to become accredited, which opens the door to increased state funding.
A Fund Advisory Committee composed of Ms. Kreutz Bennett’s nieces and nephews recommends matching grants each year to libraries serving communities with populations under 3,000. Due to the effort’s tremendous success over the past decade, the Fund is close to spending down available money. This could be the last year the opportunity is available. Since 2012, the Kreutz Bennett Donor-Advised Fund has granted over $665,000 to Nebraska's small-town public libraries through a term endowment established by the late Shirley Kreutz Bennett, a lifelong educator originally from Harvard, Nebraska. Thanks to this generous support, dozens of libraries have launched projects to repair, renovate, or replace existing facilities, create programs that enhance library services, and importantly, prepare libraries, boards and directors to become accredited, which opens the door to increased state funding.
A Fund Advisory Committee composed of Ms. Kreutz Bennett’s nieces and nephews recommends matching grants each year to libraries serving communities with populations under 3,000. Due to the effort’s tremendous success over the past decade, the Fund is close to spending down available money. This could be the last year the opportunity is available. This approach hasn’t changed much, even with social and technological changes, not to mention the pandemic and streaming programs. Program planning with a marketing mindset starts with identifying your customer’s needs and wants, then developing programs and services to meet those needs and wants. We’ll discuss how to use research – quantitative and qualitative – to plan and market programs that will engage your customers. We’ll talk about "bundling" programs and services for different audience segments. We’ll also cover how this more strategic approach can save time and resources for your library.

By significantly expanding access to eduroam* in community anchor institutions, such as K-12 schools, community colleges, and libraries, ConnectEd Nebraska has made an important impact on the state’s educational landscape. In addition, ConnectEd Nebraska is piloting innovative collaborations between school districts and local ISPs to expand access to eduroam in unique ways that go beyond traditional anchor institutions, reducing barriers to broadband access and enhancing educational opportunities. Attend this session to learn what eduroam is, where it's deployed throughout the state, and how your library can get involved.

- The most important data for NCF’s mission is this map that shows the timing of wealth transfer. Those of you who have worked with our first study graphs and maps will see significant difference. When we used to talk about 26 counties peaking on or before 2015…we now see that 51 counties are peaking before 2020. It is pretty obvious to see that the TOW is accelerated in places that have lost population.
