This document provides an overview of sustainable management of natural resources. It discusses that natural resources are limited and must be conserved for future generations as the population and demand for resources increases exponentially. During the Vedic period in India, forestry was emphasized as both productive and protective. The five R's are proposed as a rule to save the environment: refuse, reduce, reuse, reproduce, and recycle. The presentation aims to promote sustainable use and conservation of natural resources.

4. Introduction
Things that occur in nature and that are useful to us are called
Natural resources. Many of these Natural resources are essential
for our survival. Air, water, soil, sunlight, forest and wildlife are the
examples for natural resources. Natural resources include both
living and non-living things. We can broadly categories natural
resources into living natural resources and non-living natural
resources.

5. Why do we need to manage our natural
resources?
● We need to manage our natural resources because they are limited.
● We need to conserve it for future otherwise it will be finished.
● For example - Trees are the natural resources, we get oxygen, food,
medicine etc. But trees and plants cannot survive in pollution and if
there's no trees, we can't survive.
● As the population increasing at a tremendous rate, the demand for all
resources is increasing at an exponential rate.
● We need to manage our natural resources to take into consideration long
term perspective and prevent their exploitation.
● We need to manage our natural resources so all people can take there
benefits equally.

8. Concern of people about
environment during Vedic period
During the Vedic period, both productive as well as
protective aspect of forest vegetation were emphasised.
Agriculture emerged as a dominant economic activity
during the later Vedic period. This was the time when the
concept of cultural landscape such as sacred forests and
groves sacred corridors and a variety of ethno-forestry
practices were evolved that continued to the post-Vedic
period.

11. Refuse
This means to say No to things people offer you that you don't need. Refuse
to buy products that can harm you and the environment, say No to single-use
plastic carry bags.

12. Reduce
This means that you use less. You save electricity by switching off
unnecessary lights and fans. You save water by repairing leaky taps. Do not
waste food. And by many other ways.

13. Reuse
This is actually even better than recycling because the process of recycling
uses some energy. In the 'reuse’ strategy, you simply use things again and
again. Instead of throwing away used envelopes, you can reverse it and use it
again.

14. Reproduce
This means when a product can no more be used for the original purpose,
think carefully and use it for some other useful purpose.

15. Recycle
This means that you collect payment plastic, paper, glass and metal items and
recycle these materials to make required things instead of synthesising or
extracting fresh plastic, paper, glass and metal.
