NATIONAL POLICY ON EDUCATION
• INTRODUCTION:- intellectuals and thinkers
all over the world i.e., education as a crucial
factor in raising the standard of living of
millions all over the globe. It is however
there for that many countries have started
giving a close look to their educational
system.
The new policy boldly accepts some elements, which have been meeting
considerably assistance such as selective development of educational
institutions
Objective of NPE -1986
Education is a unique investment on the present and future.
This cardinal principle is the key to the national policy ion
education.
1. He main thrust of the policy is the main and his her
preparation to the face the 21st century.
2. The concept of national system of education implies that
upto a given level of students irrespective of creed, sex
etc. have a access to education of education.
3. To motivate the younger generation for international
cooperation and peaceful co-existence.
4. To encourage the young to undertaker the rediscovery of India, its
image and perception.
5. To provide opportunities to the youth, housewives and industrial
workers etc. to continue the education of their choice at he pace
suited to them. Since, life long education is cherished goal of
educational process.
PROGRAMMES OF NPE – 1986
Education for equality.
DISPARITY
The new policy will lay special emphasis on the removal of
disparities and to equalize educational opportunity by attending to
the specific need of those who have been denies equality so for.
Education for women’s equality
Education will be used as an agent of basic change in the status of
women in order to neutralization the accumulated distortion of
the past there will be a well- conceived edge in former women.
The education of scheduled castes
the central focus in the scheduled caste educational development is equalization with the non-
scheduled caste population at all the stages and levels of education.
THE EDUCATION OF SCHEDULED TRIBES
The following measures will be taken to bring the scheduled tribes on per with others.
1. Priority will be accorded to opening primary school in tribal areas
2. Residential school, including ashrams schools will be established on a large scale.
3. incentive schemes will be formulated for he STs keeping in view their special need
and life styles.
Other educationally backward sections and areas
Suitable incentives will be provided to al educational backward sections of the rural
areas and island, will be provided to all educational of society particularly in
the rural areas, hill and desert districts, remote and inaccessible areas and island,
will be provided adequate institutional infrastructure.
Minorities
Some minority group are educationally backward greater attention will be paid to
the educational of these group in the interest of equality and social justice.
The handicapped
The following measures will be taken to integrate the physically and
mentally handicapped with the general community .
1. Wherever is it is feasible the education of the children with motor
handicaps and others. Mild handicaps will comman with that of other.
2. Adequate arrangements will be made to give vocational training to the
disabled.
3. Voluntary will be for the education every possible manner.
Adult education
A vast programme of adult education will be implemented through various ways and
channels including ;
1. Establishment of centre for continuing education
2. Use of radio TV films, etc as mass and groups learning media agenciec of government
3. Wider promotion of books, libraries reading room etc.
4. Programmers' of distance learning
5. Organizing assistance in self learning
6. Organiising need and interest based vocational training programmers.
