A study found that a nasal spray containing an artificial form of insulin may improve memory and cognitive abilities in people with mild cognitive impairment or Alzheimer's disease. The study of 60 participants found that those receiving 40 international unit doses of the insulin detemir nasal spray for 21 days showed significantly better short-term memory and processing abilities than those receiving lower doses or a placebo. Specifically, those with the APOE-e4 gene who are at higher risk of Alzheimer's saw greater benefits from the higher dosage, while lower-risk participants saw fewer effects overall. This suggests nasally administered insulin may help treat cognitive decline, building on previous promising trials.
A 100 years ago, when neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) started to be well established, the race never stopped trying to add new regimens to improve neonatal survival. On the other hand, long term sequelae of medications used at NICUs were usually not sufficiently studied and left mostly unnoticed for many years by neonatologists. Here we are trying to understand & & shed the light on some of these sequelae in a trial avoid those sequelae while working on NICU candidates.

ABSTRACT
Objective: The purpose of this clinical study was to assess the impact of OLS-01, a proprietary formulation, on cognitive function
in individuals aged 35 to 75 years who suffer from cognitive dysfunction. The study was randomized, double-blind, and placebo-
controlled. Each capsule of OLS-01 contained Extract of Marigold flowers, which is equivalent to 10mg of Lutein and 1mg of
Zeaxanthin. The participants received two capsules of OLS-01 per day, providing a daily dose of 20mg of Lutein and 2mg of
Zeaxanthin. Methods: The study recruited 30 individuals who had been diagnosed with cognitive dysfunction resulting from
either Parkinson's disease or stroke. The participants were block-randomized and divided into two groups, G1 and G2. Group G1
received OLS-01, while Group G2 received a placebo for a duration of five weeks. Compliance was assessed by conducting
participant interviews and questionnaires. The participants underwent cognitive performance testing using the
Standardized Cognitive Assessment Revised (SCAr) at the beginning of the study and at weeks 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. Results: The SCAr
test results showed that 46.6% of the individuals in the treatment group exhibited notable improvement in cognitive abilities. In
contrast, none of the participants in the placebo group showed any improvement in cognitive function throughout the study period.
Conclusion: The results indicate that taking the Lutein supplement formulation OLS-01 for five weeks can
enhance cognitive function in people who suffer from cognitive dysfunction due to Parkinson's disease or stroke. These findings
suggest that OLS-01 supplementation could be a hopeful intervention for individuals seeking to preserve and enhance
their cognitive abilities. Findings of this study gives hope for further research on Cognitive benefits of OLS-01.

Subjects receiving 10mg/day of dronabinol expressed the highest overall satisfaction with treatment (p=0.04). In comparison to placebo, dronabinol dose-dependently reduced AHI by 10.7±4.4 (p=0.02) and 12.9±4.3 (p=0.003) events/hour at doses of 2.5 and 10 mg/day, respectively. Dronabinol at 10 mg/day reduced ESS score by -3.8±0.8 points from baseline (p<0.0001) and by -2.3±1.2 points in comparison to placebo (p=0.05). Body weights, MWT sleep latencies, gross sleep architecture and overnight oxygenation parameters were unchanged from baseline in any treatment group. The number and severity of adverse events and treatment adherence (0.3±0.6 missed doses/week) were equivalent among all treatment groups.
OSA affects approximately 30 million Americans, according to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Besides causing next day sleepiness, a major cause of motor vehicle and industrial accidents, OSA is co-morbid with cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and other conditions. Treatment options are limited and the most effective treatment, the CPAP device, has an extremely high non-compliance rate. “There is a tremendous need for effective, new treatments in obstructive sleep apnea,” said Dr. Carley in a press release by the University of Illinois at Chicago.
In the same press release, Dr. Zee commented that “The CPAP device targets the physical problem but not the cause. The drug targets the brain and nerves that regulate the upper airway muscles. It alters the neurotransmitters from the brain that communicate with the muscles.”

The prostate is an exocrine gland of the male mammalian reproductive system
It is a walnut-sized gland that forms part of the male reproductive system and is located in front of the rectum and just below the urinary bladder
Function is to store and secrete a clear, slightly alkaline fluid that constitutes 10-30% of the volume of the seminal fluid that along with the spermatozoa, constitutes semen
A healthy human prostate measures (4cm-vertical, by 3cm-horizontal, 2cm ant-post ).
It surrounds the urethra just below the urinary bladder. It has anterior, median, posterior and two lateral lobes
It’s work is regulated by androgens which are responsible for male sex characteristics
Generalised disease of the prostate due to hormonal derangement which leads to non malignant enlargement of the gland (increase in the number of epithelial cells and stromal tissue)to cause compression of the urethra leading to symptoms (LUTS

Ethanol (CH3CH2OH), or beverage alcohol, is a two-carbon alcohol
that is rapidly distributed in the body and brain. Ethanol alters many
neurochemical systems and has rewarding and addictive properties. It
is the oldest recreational drug and likely contributes to more morbidity,
mortality, and public health costs than all illicit drugs combined. The
5th edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
(DSM-5) integrates alcohol abuse and alcohol dependence into a single
disorder called alcohol use disorder (AUD), with mild, moderate,
and severe subclassifications (American Psychiatric Association, 2013).
In the DSM-5, all types of substance abuse and dependence have been
combined into a single substance use disorder (SUD) on a continuum
from mild to severe. A diagnosis of AUD requires that at least two of
the 11 DSM-5 behaviors be present within a 12-month period (mild
AUD: 2–3 criteria; moderate AUD: 4–5 criteria; severe AUD: 6–11 criteria).
The four main behavioral effects of AUD are impaired control over
drinking, negative social consequences, risky use, and altered physiological
effects (tolerance, withdrawal). This chapter presents an overview
of the prevalence and harmful consequences of AUD in the U.S.,
the systemic nature of the disease, neurocircuitry and stages of AUD,
comorbidities, fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, genetic risk factors, and
pharmacotherapies for AUD.

A nasal spray that contains a man-made
form of insulin may improve working
memory and other mental capabilities in
adults with mild cognitive impairment
and Alzheimer's, scientists have found.
The study led by researchers at Wake
Forest Baptist Medical Center studied 60
adults diagnosed with amnesic mild
cognitive impairment (MCI) or mild to
moderate Alzheimer's dementia (AD).
3. Contd.
Researchers found that those who received nasallyadministered 40
international unit (IU) doses of insulin detemir, a manufactured form of the
hormone, for 21 days showed significant improvement in their short-term
ability to retain and process verbal and visual information compared with
those who received 20 IU doses or a placebo.
Recipients of 40 IU doses carrying the APOE-e4 gene -known to increase the
risk for Alzheimer's -recorded significantly higher scores than those who
received the lower dosage, while non-carriers across all three groups posted
significantly lower scores.
Previous trials had shown promising effects of nasallyadministered insulin for
adults with AD and MCI, but this study was the first to use insulin detemir.
