Giraffes live in arid, open, and wooded savanna areas of northern Africa. They eat twigs, bark, fruits, and vegetables, and can go days without drinking water by obtaining moisture from their food. Giraffes live in loose groups of up to 25 individuals, with one male and multiple females. Females give birth to a single calf after a 15-month gestation period.
