5. History of Mylan
• 1961: Milan Puskar and Don Panoz, who met while
serving in the U.S Army, found Milan Pharmaceuticals
as a drug distributor in White Sulphur Springs, West
Virginia in a formal skating rink.
• 1965:The company started manufacturing Penicillin-G
tablets as well as vitamins and other dietary
supplements. After receiving FDA approval. Milan
changed its name to Mylan Laboratories Inc.

6. History of Mylan
• Panoz left Mylan in 1969 and Puskar quit the company in
1973, as it grew and experienced financial difficulties.
• The board hired Roy McKnight as CEO, and he brings
Puskar back in 1976 as president.
• 1984, Mylan introduced its first proprietary drug,
Maxzide. Generated $100 million in sales by 1988.
• 1993, McKnight dies suddenly due to heart attack, and
Puskar is named chairman and CEO

Mylan’s business in India began in 2007 with the acquisition
of Matrix Laboratories Limited (19 manufacturing facilities).
The deal transformed Mylan overnight into one the world’s
largest manufacturers of API.

9. Pfizer Upjohn to merge its off-patent drug unit
with Mylan
• The name of the new company to be formed by the planned combination
of Mylan and Upjohn, a division of Pfizer, will be ”VIATRIS.”
• (“VIA”to three“TRIS”core goals.)
• This NewCo will continue sales of Mylan's more than 7,500 products including
biosimilars, generics, brand and over the counter remedies. Pfizer's Upjohn unit
including Lipitor (atorvastatin calcium), Celebrex (celecoxib) and Viagra
(sildenafil) According to the joint press releases the NewCo will sell products in
165 markets.

• Pfizer shareholders would own 57% of the
combined new company, and Mylan
shareholders would own 43%. The Boards of
Directors of both Mylan and Pfizer have
unanimously approved the transaction.
• Mylan’s current CEO HEATHER BRESCH,
will retire from Mylan upon the close of this
transaction.
