The ethical concern that may potentially present itself in this
case is would be in relation to voluntary consent. My topic the
ways to help the newborns adapt to new environments;
acquiring consent voluntarily from the parents would be very
difficult because mothers are usually very protective of their
children. I would have to collaborate with a willing health care
facility to implement my program for all newborn babies
without necessarily informing the parents.
How will you address those ethical concerns when designing
your action research project around this topic?
To be able to resolve this dilemma, I would start up my
implementation with a deep education of the parents reassuring
them of the safety of the research and also ensure that the
research apparatus are all safe for all the babies whether
successful or not. Education would help reassure them of the
safety of their children (Sales & Folkman 2010).

5. Triangulation
The area that we are focusing on in this assignment is
helping newborns to be able to adapt to new environment and to
child care. To many families this has been a major issue
whereby after the birth of a child, they take too long to adapt to
the new environment. How long a child takes to adapt depends
the situation of the family and since many families have
working mothers the child may take longer since they spend
more time with another care provider who may not be well
informed (Spock 2005). My program is to build up a day care
wit well trained staff where mothers can leave them for work
and be assured that they are in safe hands with no fears
whatsoever.

7. 1. Current Work Setting
a. Currently, I work in a childcare center with 2 and three-year-
olds. There’s always some form of training, usually initial and
annual training.
2. Potential Population Effected
a. My major duty at the childcare is to attend to the two to
three-year-old children and provision of general care.
3. Area of Focus
a. The purpose of my study will be to focus attention on how to
help newly brought children adapt to the new environment at the
child care, given that the children have never been to such
environments before.
4. Explanation of Problem
a. The problem that is prompting me to this study is the fact that
most, if not all children brought to this childcare and much
other childcare have difficulty adjusting to the new environment
(Line, 2008).
5. Define Variables
a. Those who will benefit from this study will mainly be the
caregivers at the childcare. They will also have an ample time
while attending to the children. The children themselves will
benefit for they will have peace of mind.

a. My wonder is mainly how it takes long for most children to
get used to the new environment in this and many other child
care centers? I would want to find a way of making the children
