ELA-Writing Assignment My Story
I am a story, your are a story. My story begins when I was born, I was born on April 9 th
1998, in Manila Philippines. My family lived in the Philippines for 3 years after I was born, then we
moved to Canada and lived with my grandparents for a few years. Once my parents found good jobs,
we moved into an apartment. I started going to school at Wellington. Then in grade 1 moved to
Sargent Park School. A few years later my family moved into a house on Ashburn. We have been
living here for 4 years now. I have been an only child for 12 years. Last year my brother Magnus
before, Magnus is his real name, it means “great” in Latin. But be call him Aidan. In May 2010, I was
no longer an only child. Like in any good book there is a part with drama, a part where the reader
will remember, a part where the story “impacts” the reader. In the next paragraph I will talk about
times that really impacted me through my life.
Like every good story, there are happy parts, and sad parts. Some significant memories I
have include leaving the Philippines, my auntie dying of cancer, but by far my most significant
memory is when my mom had a miscarriage. It was only about 2 years ago, and my parents were very
excited. A few months passed and my mother had a schedule for an ultra-sound, when she got to
the doctors office they scanned her for the baby. Sadly they couldn’t find the babies heart beat
and they concluded he had passed. My family was devastated and my mom didn’t go to work for a
while. But time passed and the pain slowly faded. During the course of a few more months my mom
was pregnant again. This baby made it and was born in May. My mom was extremely tired from
giving birth to my brother, but my dad and I were very happy. My mom went off work for a while
and it was good because my brother didn’t move around too much. He never learned how to crawl,
even now as he nears his 2nd birth day, but he developed another method of transportation. He
scoots around on his but. In anybody’s life they have had to get a job at some point and in the next
paragraph I will talk about what I want my career to be.
In the future, when the time comes to choose a career, I think I want to be a video game
tester or creator, if those don’t work out, I really want to get involved with Law Enforcement. I
would like to become an officer because every time I hear about a crime like a murder or a robbery,
I feel like I could have stopped it, and I want to. Even though I am only 13 years old I know that I
want to help people, even if I don’t turn out to be a police officer. And just like all good stories,
they should be an ending. Although mine hasn’t come yet.
