Pollution of our environment is a big issue in today s world. I thought I would
focus on one aspect of this by looking at the effects of salt pollution on duckwed.
Hopefully by finding out more about our effects on the environment we can discover
ways to preserve it.
Aim: To find out what effects growing in waters of different salinity will have on the
growth of duckweed.
Hypothesis: The duckweed will show a small growth increase with very low levels of
salinity and then will show a decline in growth rate as the levels of salinity increase.
Planned methodology: Collect a sample pool of duckweed, and measure out an equal
amount into 5 different containers. Place an increasing amount of salt into the first 4
containers and no salt in the 5th container as a control. Monitor the growth of the
duckweed for 2 weeks.

В· Prepare 5 beakers with 500 ml of water each.
В· Count 5 duckweed fronds into each beaker.
В· Place 1ml of salt in the first beaker, 2ml in the second, 4 ml in the third, 8ml in the

Introduction As a part of our final project for GEEN 1400 Engineering Projects, we
had to design an original toy for children aged eight and under. Each group has to
come up with a new toy which has not yet existed. The toy requires the
implementation of engineering skills in its manufacturing and design process.
Some of those competence are obtained from in class workshops or personal
experience, though students are also allowed to take workshops outside of class,
in the ITLL, or Idea Forge. Several of the skills most groups require are: laser
cutting, CAD, electronics, 3D printing, etc. Not everyone in the group possesses
skills for all aspects of the project. Students divide among themselves and each
member takes over a part of the project, however, team members still communicate
with each other in completing their tasks. Later, they piece in their parts and
collaborate to figure out remaining tasks and possible improvements to the project.
The deadline for this project is the Design Expo where students present their
project to judges visiting from local companies. Our section s theme of the final
project is toys, particularly for those aged eight and under. Therefore, we wanted

were not working, that it is recommended to retract all the gear and land on the

decided that they would have to make a forced landing without their front landing

off the engine before landing, to reduce the amount of damage that would be done

Relationship between thought and language is not something you consider or
contemplate in your everyday life. Nevertheless, the answer to this seemingly useless
philosophical question might spell the difference between totalitarian control of our
minds achieved through manipulation of language and a world of freedom, where
human ideas cannot be subjected to blatant perversions as they resonate through
intelligent minds, bound only by the power of our imagination. This dilemma has

freedom of suffering, known as Nirvana. In order to do so, Siddhartha encounters a
journey with following Samanas, a group of people who believe denying one s self
can lead to happiness. At one point, he also completely breaks away from Buddhism.
He was trying to let his Atman be happy. Atman means eternal self (Flood 1).
However, Siddhartha had focused either too much or too little on his Atman, making
his path to Nirvana difficult.

atman reach enlightenment. He followed the Samanas, who were a group of people

Educating Rita is a realistic look at a woman s journey to change and find herself.
The director keeps the film simple while watching her overcome a lack of
confidence and other obstacles. The film is considered a comedy but is still a
relatable story because the director represented Rita s character as she really would

Rita, real name Susan, is a young married hairdresser that wants to get an education.
Frank is an alcoholic literature teacher who is assigned to help her through the

The building borrowed from mainly large scale ancient Roman buildings. One of
the most principle design was the longitudinal axis as the building now had the
focus of attention to the opposite end to the entrance. This was because it was a
church thus that design enabled number of people to gather for the liturgy with an
inward focus on the altar. Another principle design is the series of arches/pillars
on both sides, that are continuous throughout the side of the church. The purpose
of that is to again lead your eyes into the critical point of the church, the altar. Note
