Our class
is a
team…
If ….
• If you don’t listen – you won’t learn
• If you distract others – you are not listening – and not
learning and stopping others from learning
• If you don’t ask you will never know….
It is time to STOP & LISTEN
when …
• I stand at the front…. Count down from ten. By the
time I get to ten you will ….
• Pens down
• Look at me
• Quiet
• I wave my magic wand
• If I say “Check” it means you need to check yourself
and stop what you are doing.
Behaviour Management to assist
your Learning
• Traffic Light System
Colour What it means
Green Great job! Working well throughout the day, following rules,
demonstrating appropriate behavior, etc.
Yellow Warning Card (breaking rules, not following directions, disrupting
the classroom)
Orange Second Warning Card (still not following directions)
This card means that the student loses free time and takes a
ten minute time out.
Red A Note and/or Phone Call Home
Why do homework?
• Practice homework reinforces newly acquired skills taught
in class
• Preparation homework helps students prepare for
upcoming lessons
• Extension homework provides challenging opportunities for
enrichment.
Homework Policy
• All students are responsible for turning in their homework
on time
• Late homework will result in a note home.
• You are responsible for recording your homework in your
student diary
• You must attempt all homework – saying “I couldn’t do
it” is a non-attempt at homework and will result in a
note home.
• If you don’t do it – be honest, don’t lie to me as
I will loose respect and trust
Beginning of class
• Line up outside in two lines – quietly with your materials in your
hands that you need to learn.
• Enter
• Put away your bag quickly
• Sit at your assigned seat – use the seating plan
• Quietly stand behind your chair
• I will say: “Good Morning Year 8”
• You will say: “Good Morning Mrs Harris”
• I will say: “Please be seated”
At the end of class
• Pack up – get you back pack
• Return to your desk
• Pick up any trash
• Push your chair in and stand quietly behind your chair
• I will say: “Good Morning Year 8”
• You will say: “Good Morning Mrs Harris”
• Leave quietly & orderly
Every day is a new day
