Muskrats are brown furred rodents that live in wetlands in North America, they have webbed back feet for swimming and sharp claws on their front feet. Muskrats build dens or lodges to live in and eat plants like cattails, bulrushes and water plant roots, as well as sometimes eating clams, crayfish and snails. Muskrats mate in warm months and females give birth to litters of 5-6 kits after a 30 day gestation.
