Classical music
We use the definition of "classical" in the sense of "serious" or "academic music". More
specifically, these are symphonies, concertos, quartets, trios, sonatas, cantata-oratorio
genres.
Most of the Novosibirsk Philharmonic's ensembles and soloists perform similar music - great
works from Bach to Shostakovich.
Jazz
"Weather" in this genre is determined by two bands: Vladimir Tolkachev's Big Band and
Siberian Dixieland. The Chamber Choir, Pavel Sharomov's Vocal Ensemble and other
groups turn to jazz style.
As part of the Jazz Club, Novosibirsk and touring musicians perform on the stage of the
Philharmonic. Finally, it is worth recalling the grandiose International Festival SibJazzFest,
which brings together truly legendary jazz masters from Europe, America and Asia under its
wing.
Retro
Music for those who are seized by a slight nostalgia for the melodies of past years. Literally,
“retro” (lat. Retro) means “back”, “turned to the past”. For each of us in the past there are so
many dear, beloved, unforgettable! Songs by Vertinsky and Utyosov, melodies by ABBA or
the Beatles, hits from the repertoire of Muslim Magomayev and Anna German. In other
words, light music that has stood the test of time.
Stage
The Philharmonic presents a fairly diverse range of genres. These are Soviet and foreign
pop music, rock, as well as songs related to folk, jazz and romance styles.
Turning to this section, lovers of "light" genres will easily find the concerts they are interested
in.
Organ music
The Belgian digital organ Monarke Praludium Novosibirsk was specially designed for the
acoustic and other features of the Philharmonic Chamber Hall. To create it, the sounds of the
best organs in the world were recorded - in France, in Germany. It is suitable for performing
both classical music and modern works for organ, so the Philharmonic's repertoire includes
both. And the best organists of the world introduce Novosibirsk listeners to the variety of
organ music.

Guitar
Concerts where the guitar acts as a solo instrument, as well as programs entirely dedicated
to guitar music
Folklore
The Philharmonic Society offers the public a wide variety of programs dedicated to Russian,
Georgian, Negro, Spanish, Irish, Latin American folklore. Touring musicians add quite exotic
notes to this palette: throat singing, African lira, erhu, duduk.
The Russian Academic Orchestra and the Rozhdestvo Folklore Ensemble are two
philharmonic ensembles that are directly associated with Russian folk music. Arrangements
of folk melodies make up a significant part of the Resonance duet's repertoire.
Romance
Ancient, urban, everyday, gypsy, cruel - romance has dozens of varieties, but is always
addressed to a person, his feelings, and therefore is dear to everyone's heart. This genre
demonstrates an incredibly organic union of poetry and music, where each component is
equally important.
Almost all soloists and philharmonic groups, including jazz ones, show sympathy for the
romance. In concerts, romance often coexists with borderline genres - an aria, a song -
between which it is not always possible to draw a clear line.
Spiritual music
By spiritual they mean church music, but it is not limited to compositions accompanying
worship. In philharmonic programs, such works occupy a very significant place.
In varying degrees, but all musicians turn to sacred music. First of all, it is necessary to
name the Novosibirsk Academic Symphony Orchestra, choirs and vocal groups: the
Chamber Choir, the Markell's Voices Ensemble, the Pavel Sharomov Vocal Ensemble, the
early music ensemble Insula Magica. Sacred music is constantly present at organ concerts.
Early music
A serious interest in the music of the pre-Bach period woke up not so long ago - in the
second half of the 20th century. Since that time, ancient manuscripts began to be published,
obsolete musical instruments were reconstructed, and forgotten or changed playing
techniques were restored. In musicology, even the special term "authentic performance" (i.e.,
faithful to the original) has appeared.
In the wake of this interest, a large number of early music ensembles arose. There is such a
group in the Novosibirsk Philharmonic - the ensemble of early music Insula Magica.
Contemporary academic music
The Philharmonic conducts world premieres of not only Novosibirsk, but also metropolitan
and even foreign composers. Some of these compositions are included in the permanent
repertoire of philharmonic ensembles. On the other hand, these are not necessarily
premieres. On the Novosibirsk stage there are works that were created 10 - 20 years ago. In
this series, the works of our contemporaries: R. Shchedrin, G. Kancheli, J. Kram, A. Pyart, K.
Penderetsky, V. Ekimovsky, Yu. Shibanov and many others. other composers.
Musical and literary programs
Recently, interest in musical and literary programs has been growing. Such concerts are
held by masters of artistic expression and soloists of the Musical and Literary Department of
the Philharmonic. Large-scale projects involving famous Novosibirsk actors are offered by
the Russian Academic Orchestra, and the Chamber Orchestra regularly invites Sergei
Chonishvili to perform another fairy tale with the orchestra. The Markell's Voices Ensemble
creates concert performances dedicated to the work of great Russian poets. For their part,
the musicologist Marina Yakushevich and the Filarmonica Quartet joined this work with talent
and elegance, presenting the cycle of concerts “Chamber Evenings: Poetry of the Strings”.
Theatrical performances
We do not compete with the opera house, rather we complement its activities so that
forgotten or newly created scores take on stage life. An active role in this is played by the
Markell's Voices ensemble, creating musical performances for adults and children.
In addition, the Philharmonic cooperates with various creative teams of the city. So the
children's theater "World of Music" on the stage of the Philharmonic staged more than a
dozen opera performances for young listeners. Dramatic performances can also be seen on
the Philharmonic stage.
Children's programs
The Novosibirsk Philharmonic offers programs for different age groups: up to three years old
, from 6 years old , for older students . There is also a completely unique project - a cycle of
concerts for expectant mothers "Waiting for a miracle" . He quickly lost his uniqueness,
because this touching idea was immediately picked up by other concert organizations in
Russia.
Such diversity became possible thanks to the Children's and Youth Philharmonic(DUV),
which attracts almost all philharmonic groups, as well as young Novosibirsk musicians, to
participate in its concerts. Cooperation with the children's theater "World of Music" allows
you to supplement the program with musical and theatrical performances. During the
holidays, the ODUP holds a traditional festival "When you don't have to go to school."
Musical experiments
Concerts about which you can say: "Out of the norm, out of the standard, beyond the
ordinary."
Gala
Gala concerts are held infrequently - for this you need a solid reason: a public holiday, an
anniversary date, the end of the festival, the opening of the season, or, say, the birthday of
the Philharmonic. Such programs gather on one stage a large number of soloists, creative
teams and are distinguished by special splendor and festivity.
Concerts available for purchase with the Pushkin Card
The Pushkin Map is a project initiated by the President of Russia of the Ministry of Culture
of the Russian Federation for all citizens from 14 to 22 years old. Each of them will receive a
card with a balance of 5,000 rubles in the current year. It will be possible to spend this
money only in museums, theaters, concert halls and libraries.
