The General Assembly,
Defining the term “practical disarmament” as the reduction and possible elimination of use, trade, and
production of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW).
Bearing in mind that disarmament of SALW will take time and certain states might be economically
dependent to the production and trade of SALW.
Noting with deep concern that illicit SALW continues to be an issue in many developing countries,
specially in the African region.
Recommends all member-state to strengthen their legislation on the topic by implementing laws
such as but not limited to,
A. Limiting the variety of weapons available.
B. Limiting the number of weapons an individual can own.
C. Continuing the supervision of all weapons used by the civilians.
Calls for member-states in post-war conflict regions to actively participate in the disarmament
in ways such as,
A. Strengthening border controls.
B. Seeking and destroying black markets in which illegal trade of arms is abundant by
increasing security measures and sanctions if proven guilty.
Hopes that all member-states will support and remain focused on the matter.
