Points and Motions are the tools
used in Model United Nations
delegates use to communicate with
their chairs and fellow delegates. It
is the formal language to ask for
things, clarify things and, when
necessary, appeal them.

WORKING PAPER
A MUN working paper is
commonly a precursor to a Draft
Resolution. It is a place to put the
first draft of the ideas that you
hope to guide to the resolution
through lobbying, negotiation
and compromise.

Draft resolutions are all
resolutions that have not yet
been voted on. Delegates write
draft resolutions with other
countries. There are three main
parts to a draft resolution:
The heading.
The preamble.
The operative section.

AMENDMENTS
An amendment in MUN is a change in
the text of a draft resolution designed to
modify the content. Amendments in
MUN can also be used as a tool to alter
another draft resolution, or your own, at
some point before the final vote

When a meeting wants to decide
on a matter, it does so by voting.
The rules will outline the voting
rights of members and the voting
methods to be used. Common
voting methods include:
