KDAS News Iñaki as newswoman, Marjan as anchorman Livereporter: Eric Sketchcast: Aileen and Stefan

Introduction We went to visit Rådmansgadeskole , in Nørrebro the 17th of March 2009. Teacher: Lisa… Egyptian, Norwegian (multicultural) Teacher: Safta… Pakistan (multicultural)
The different backgrounds...
The children like the multicultural class… “It’s interesting”, they claim.
Level of integration Is there integration? They start in the first class with: 1A: 50% Danish pupils 1B: 25% Danish pupils 1C: no Danish pupils at all (most from Pakistan) 1D: no Danish pupils at all (most from Arabic countries) Or separation? They end with… Fewer Danish students because the parents retriet them from the schools! Some parents can’t see the development of the children...
The school through the time...
Who is integrating whom? There are in fact so few Danes that the Danes find the environment influencing their own… The social environment can change your mind...
The social environment can change your mind... In a good way We go to our livereporter: Eric Fred eric, he will sketch the situation… STOPPING DANES DRINKING In a bad way Because the child isn’t thinking the decision through, he isn’t thinking for his own… follows the rest. HEADSCARF AND KORAN
Teaching how to read, how to be critical... The teachers try to integrate the immigrant pupils by teaching them to question the media, the things they hear and read. But… Fred eric will show us the big problem… (live)
Living in two different worlds...
Girls and boys Girls tend to work harder because they can’t get out in the evening… They are very successful in school. However they have to decide between family and university...
What is wrong in these teaching situations? How do they do it… The young ideas Alternative creative - free - colourful - attitude training - motivation to stay in school - girls study as well - fun - playful - freedom - learn to be critical And they? The old-fashioned ones Controversial boring - very dry - serious - facts not feelings - less social skills - not caring about the strength of their abilities - just in front of the class not with the class
CONCLUSION The school scores great for level 3: Transformation: Perspectives out of different views of different cultural groups. Also for point 2: Human relations , they make great adjustments in the school. They score medium in the global level of integration due to the lack of Danish students.
Commercial break… COME TO THE SCHOOL DANISH STUDENTS… WE NEED YOU IN OUR STRUGGLE FOR INTEGRATION! COME AND STAY!
Discussion... Can the immigrant pupils become integrated when there are too few Danish pupils? How can you convince the “ old-fashioned” teachers to become more active and creative into integrating the students? … other remarks?
