Muhammad was born in Mecca in the year 571 CE. He became orphaned as a child and was raised by his grandfather and uncle. As an adult he was known for his honesty and married Khadijah. He often retreated to a cave called Hira for solitude. One night in the cave, the angel Gabriel appeared to Muhammad and revealed the first verses of the Quran, marking the beginning of his prophethood. This made Muhammad the final prophet in Islam, responsible for spreading Allah's message to others.
