Project : 2 meanings
• To Project – verb: Visualise, imagine, aspire,
represent
• Pro(a)ject:
• noun- a completed or fulfilling, defined
version of a “projection” or intention with
clear parameters of end impact, influence or
implication
11/30/2015 raja Krishnamoorthy -PMI
Project
• It's a time bound endeavour undertaken to
create a unique product, service or result.
• A project is temporary in that it has a defined
beginning and end in time, and therefore
defined scope and resources and end point.
• Hence it is strongly driven by the 3 parameters
of fulfilment:
Time, Space( material) & Quality
11/30/2015 raja Krishnamoorthy -PMI
Film making : interesting perspectives
• Dependence on a whole diversity of talent /domain
expertise
• Challenge of managing creative content with operational
efficiency : The whole project’s foundation is creative &
aspirational than cerebral & analytical
• But in the end , objective realty: Success , Box office
Collection, ROI…Creative intention to be hopefully
delivered as revenue collection
11/30/2015 raja Krishnamoorthy -PMI
What makes the difference?
• The multiple creative elements- but respect for
discipline - hours of learning & doing
• An individuals’ subjective idea, with a hope that it
will have a measurable objective commercial
appeal
• 3 dimensional: The efficiency (of production
management ), creative discipline( of the multi -
skilled team) and mind Influencing ( the leadership
style)makes a big difference

Who are the leaders who get
the best
out of
People?
11/30/2015 raja Krishnamoorthy -PMI
The H E R O leader…
• Hierarchy is incidental
• Engaging & Energising
• Result Driven, every “BIT”
• Objective: Overcomes emotional tugs:
partner for performance than familiarity or
other reasons
11/30/2015 raja Krishnamoorthy -PMI
Hierarchy is incidental:
• Division of capability is horizontal not vertical –
real TEAM: together every one achieves more
• Can you inspire by appreciating the smallest
contribution? ( shaji kailas-gangothri)
• Walk around, at least talk around 
• If you can, Bring joy every day: live with reach,
empathy and positive influence
11/30/2015 raja Krishnamoorthy -PMI
Engaging & Energising
• Sensitivity makes a big difference-care for
their comfort, facilities
• Engage and instil enthusiasm: Instant feed
back, appreciation or course correction
• Get extended collaboration & contribution by
being the role model ( priyan story)
11/30/2015 raja Krishnamoorthy -PMI
Result Driven, every “BIT” ***
• Assessment & Reviews are ever minute :Constantly pay
attention to details; Every shot/scene & Day is a project
• Demand what is required, even if it is going to be a
“problem” – Thalapathy climax amrish
• Emphasise: Goal clarity is more important than role
clarity- constantly –( agni natchatram)
• When there is conflict, go a level higher and see issues;
when there is an emergency go 2 levels low and get your
hands dirty
