- #2 Hello everyone, my name is Roger Moy, and I am an artist who aspires to take part in creating environment art for video games because using this technology as a medium creates endless possibilities.
- #3 "Technology is stitching together all the minds of the living, wrapping the planet in a vibrating cloak of electronic nerves, How can this not stir that organ in us that is sensitive to something larger than ourselves?" - Kevin KellyAs technology evolves, it is quickly giving us the ability to create things that seem so much bigger and greater than we thought possible. In the case of an artist, we are able to bring our imagination to life in a digital realm and even expand it into something as vast as a universe.

- #5 I was born and raised in Brooklyn New York, “The Concrete Jungle” as some people call it, along with my three brothers, and my mother and father.
- #6 Being born as a first generation Asian American in my family was a bit complicated for me because my grandparents, along with my parents, had great expectations for all four of us. Growing up in the city didn’t make it any easier because of how fast everything moved. Monday to Friday I had to go to school, on Saturdays I has cram school in the mornings, an Chinese school in the afternoons. On Sundays I has Piano lessons, then swimming lessons. My brothers were all superior to me in everything whether it was academic or athletic.
- #7 To further complicate thing, I was physically smaller than average compared to my classmates from elementary school all the way up to secondary school, and together with my timid personality, it made many bullies target me for what ever ridiculous reason they could come up with. I always felt like an outsider who never really quite fit in anywhere.
- #8 I started spending all my free time, and sometimes stay up all night playing video games and that changed my life in ways that I cant even describe with words. One game would lead to another and when I finished it, that one would lead me to a new game.
- #9 The player gets to live life through the eyes of the hero, and everything in these little worlds just always seemed to end up working out in the end making me feel as if I was the hero who saved the world from imminent destruction, and this made me feel like an important part of this word.
- #10 The thing that I found most intriguing about video games were how each game cartridge or disk, was it’s own individual world with it’s own backstory, characters, heroes, and the level of interaction you have with all of this. Video games were not exactly just things to me. Each one was a world itself, it’s own entity. At that age, I never thought that I could apply the potential I had to creating something like this.
- #11 Fast forward to my high school years, I used my strong potential as an artist to get myself accepted into the most prestigious art high school in New York city. At that point in my life, I was was not even sure what I was doing there, or what I was going to do with my “artistic potential”. I did not have the same level of passion for fine arts or share the same interests as my peers, which made me feel like even more like an outsider, but I knew that being there finally gave my parents something to be proud of me for.
- #12 I dragged my feet through high school, and decided that I would just go with studying architecture because my grand parents have said to me over and over again that the only way to make a large amount of money as an artist is to be dead first.
- #13 It was finally my senior year of high school and on that fateful day in October, things started to fall into place. I showed up at New York Comic Con 2011 right after class ended on that Friday afternoon and all day Saturday and Sunday intending to just forget about college applications and all the stressful things about senior year, but I ended up questioning everything that I have been working for at this point. This event opened my mind to new possibilities, and thus started a new period of growth for me.
- #14 Fast forward another year, and everyone I knew from high school have already started their journey in college, while I was just adding to my list of disappointments. When New York Comic Con 2012 came around again, I attended all four days, but this time it was for the purpose of finding myself. All the gears and cogs have already fallen into place, but on the third day of NYCC 2012, they started to turn when I went to check out the Full Sail University booth.
- #15 It was the last week of March when I was saying goodbye to my parents as I was getting ready for my journey in to college. Although my life has been a long series of disappointments, I have finally found something that I want to do and am willing to work myself to death for.
- #16 I hope that one day, I can use my abilities to play a part in creating a world more perfect than the one we live in where people can enjoy, and immerse themselves.
- #17 I am currently attending Full Sail to learn how to use the technologies that will allow me to reach my goal. I have never opened my mind to different ideas, so I need to work very hard to learn new technologies.
