I have chosen two simple hairbands and combined them with a saucer using safety pins to create a cup-saucer combination to serve coffee/drinks and snacks together. The unique advantage being that you need only a small foot print and a combined cup-saucer. It also prevent spilling of the drinks. Specially useful for having a coffee at work table or moving car.
The document discusses lessons learned from creating a preliminary media project. The author notes that using an iPad to film resulted in blurry, unprofessional footage, so an iPhone would be better suited. A tripod was also needed to get steady shots. Costumes, setting, and equipment like a bomber jacket helped make the historical setting look authentic. Editing software like Final Cut Pro took some practice to learn but became a useful tool. Sound balancing between narration and background music required adjustments by cutting and changing volume levels on different clips.

- SunPower is a leading solar company that has deployed over 2.5 GW of solar PV worldwide with over 200 patents. They have diversified into utility-scale power plants in addition to rooftop solar.
- Their C7 tracker system uses their high-efficiency solar cells under low concentrations of 7 suns to achieve over 20% efficiency and lower LCOE than other technologies. They have over 1,000 MW of tracking experience.
- SunPower has several multi-hundred megawatt power plant projects under construction or under contract in the US and their technology is applicable to areas with high solar irradiation like the southwest US, China, India, and the Middle East.
This document summarizes the electricity challenges facing MENA countries and the potential role of solar power in addressing these challenges. It notes that rising populations, urbanization, and economic growth have caused electricity demand to outpace production capacity in MENA, relying heavily on imports of oil and natural gas. This dependence strains government budgets and causes energy wastage. However, solar power could help by contributing to GDP, saving on fuel costs, providing environmental benefits, and creating jobs. The document cites examples like Morocco and cites additional benefits solar power brings to the region.
This document discusses off-grid solar power as the lowest hanging fruit for implementing solar power in the MENA region. It summarizes that there are several gigawatts of existing micro-grids that run on diesel fuel. While solar is becoming more cost competitive with diesel, high upfront costs, load management challenges, and the temporary nature of off-grid needs have prevented solar from taking over more of the off-grid market. However, solar-hybrid systems are now competitive in many areas and can overcome challenges through innovations like containerized solar generator units and turbogenerator systems.
The document discusses integrated solar combined cycle (ISCC) technology, which combines concentrated solar power with a combined cycle power plant. It outlines key design considerations for ISCC including solar resource, land availability, topography, the age and capacity factor of the fossil plant. It also discusses transient operation modeling and provides an example of the Martin Solar Energy Center ISCC plant. Charts show the modeled and actual power output over time for the plant. References on ISCC simulation and integrating solar and conventional energy resources are also provided.
The document summarizes some of the cost aspects of solar thermal electric (STE) plants in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. It discusses the levelized cost of electricity for different STE technologies and how costs have decreased over time due to improvements in components, performance increases, and reductions in capital expenditures. The document also presents a model that policymakers can use to evaluate the costs and economic benefits of support programs for STE plants.
The CSP industry is currently highly concentrated in the US and Spain for plants in operation and construction, with Spain accounting for 70% of capacity in operation. For plants in development and planning, the US and South Africa lead with the largest planned capacities, while emerging markets like India, Chile, and Algeria are increasing. Overall, the CSP industry has seen growth in key markets like the US, Middle East and North Africa, India, and South Africa.
The document discusses trends in electric vehicles and urban mobility. It notes that by 2025 there will be 30 megacities and 15 mega regions globally, and over 40 cities will be "smart" cities. Transportation policies around congestion charging and low emissions zones in large cities will significantly impact electric vehicle adoption. While Europe and North America will have over 50% of smart cities by 2025, China and India will see over 50 new "sustainable" cities developed.
Auto OEMs Under the Microscope: Infotainment Usability AnalyzedHitReach
The document discusses automotive infotainment usability and new research practices. It examines OEM control over human-machine interfaces, infotainment platforms, and other in-vehicle systems. The methodology section lists vehicle models that will be analyzed for usability. Case studies on various vehicles highlight pros and cons of different infotainment systems. The key takeaway is that layered software architectures can save costs while supporting new apps, and usability is increasingly important to control potential distractions.
Applications Poised to Open the Door to a New World of Connected CarsHitReach
This document discusses how applications and connectivity could open new opportunities for connected cars. It notes that internet and smartphone adoption rates have grown rapidly. The mobile app market has also expanded dramatically, with over 185,000 apps now available on the iPhone and 4 billion downloads total. However, vehicles have remained one of the last areas without connectivity. The document explores different technologies for bringing apps and services into cars, such as terminal mode using phones, hybrid embedded solutions, and fully embedded apps. It acknowledges that past attempts failed because surfing and driving are contradictory when using home PC-style interfaces, and because end-to-end solutions were missing.

This document discusses personal telematics solutions like mobile personal emergency response systems (PERS). It notes the growing senior population and analyzes focus groups and surveys on wearable and mobile PERS concepts. Key findings include that maintaining independence is a top concern for seniors. Fall detection was the most appealing feature. While seniors saw value, many didn't feel an immediate need unless they had experienced a serious event. Caregivers wanted the security of backup monitoring and were more likely than seniors to purchase a system. Health conditions worsening or a fall were cited as potential motivators for seniors to adopt mobile PERS.
