Meeting and advising clients:
o Discussed and analysed the clients’ needs and sought out a fund or investment, if any, which suited them, as well analysing the risks posed.
o Gained some valuable contacts via networking.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
Commercial Awareness:
o I am an active member of the Finance and Investment society in university and regularly attend meetings where the group discuss market moves from the previous week as well as analysing current trends.
o I regularly read the Financial Times and follow the markets closely for my own stock portfolio.
Leadership:
o In my senior year at school I was appointed captain of the 1st XV rugby team. This role required me to adopt an appropriate leadership style and to motivate my team mates.
o My leadership helped guide the squad to winning a national final, the schools’ first trophy in several years.
Communication:
o During my 6th form years I assisted in the coaching of the under 12s rugby side.
o Working with children requires effective communication and strong organisational skills, as well as the ability to create drills/tasks that they found fun in order to keep them engaged. I found this very rewarding.
Personal Development:
o Through practice and constantly seeking feedback I dropped my golf handicap by 6 shots in one season, this enabled me to break into the university golf setup which was a big goal of mine.
o Through attending events and talks put on by the university or from outside speakers, I have vastly improved my abilities in areas vital to business such as networking and tackling application processes.
o I have been matched with a mentor via the Career Mentor Scheme offered by the university; their advice could prove invaluable to me in my personal development
