Mosquito Dunks are donut-shaped blocks that slowly release a bacterium called Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (Bti) which is toxic to mosquito larvae but harmless to other organisms. When mosquitoes lay eggs in water treated with Mosquito Dunks, the larvae will hatch and eat the Bti, killing them before they can become adult biting mosquitoes. Mosquito Dunks provide a safe, non-toxic way to control mosquitoes near homes, in animal watering troughs, fish ponds, and other areas where water collects.
