3. This image represents a female character who looks terrified. One
reason this low angle close up inspired me, is because the
audience can clearly see the characters facial expression. This
makes the audience feel more sympathy towards the female
character and scared for her as well. Moreover, one way tension is
constructed is through the facial expression of the victim. Also, the
characters eye are looking at someone and that is the reason she is
screaming, this gasp the audience attention because they want to
know what it is that’s making here scream; therefore at this point
the tension is rising and the audience attention is “in the hands of
the director”.
This image represents a room. It is a high angle medium
shot. One reason this image inspired me is because there is
a over view of how the room looks, therefore, the audience
can see each and every prompts making them question
themselves “what happened here?” “Why is this room so
messy”. The medium shot sets the atmosphere of how the
audience should feel and build tension. Moreover, the
room looks messy and looks as though no one is living
there. This builds suspense because it makes them think
what happened here and therefore, grabs their attention,
encouraging them to want to watch more. The fact that
there is blood on the wall also builds tension for the
audience by making them raise question for example, “who
did that”.
