The Ben Youssef Madrasa in Marrakech, Morocco is an important 14th century Islamic school building. It provides dorms and classrooms for students and is an example of mixed Moorish and Spanish architecture. The courtyard is the most impressive part, decorated with stucco, marble, mosaics and wood. The mosque located at the madrasa was actually built 200 years earlier in the 12th century and was important to the development of the surrounding city.
