Steps in using a Divider

 "Dividers and compasses are drawing
instruments that have been used since
antiquity to measure distances, transfer
lengths from one drawing to another, and
draw circles."
Brief history of divider!
What is divider?
Parts of a Divider;
Types of divider!
Usage of divider!
It is used in measuring the length of a
line segment.
It can also be used in map reading, it
measures the distance between two
points on a map and that distance can be
used to know the actual distance using a
scale.
Steps in using a divider;
 Align each arm of the dividers so that one point is laying on the
starting point of the measurement you want to transfer and the
other divider point is laying on the endpoint of that same
measurement.
 Lift the dividers off the measurement you intend to transfer,
being careful not to change their alignment.
 Place the dividers over the location you'd like to transfer the
measurement to, and make a pencil mark to indicate where
each of the dividers pointers sits. This duplicates the
measurements.
The difference between
COMPASS and DIVIDER!
Compass is a drafting instrument that
has one pen or pencil point and one
sharp point that is positioned at the
centre of the circle to be described.
While a divider, on the other hand,
has two sharp points, one for the
centre and the other for scribing or
marking.
Right T if the statement is true and F
if it is false:
• Divider is an instrument for measuring,
transferring or making of distances.
• It has one adjustable legs and ending in
sharp points.
• It can also be used to make a point
perspective.
• Compass is a drafting instrument that
has one pen or pencil point that is
position at the centre of the circle.
• Divider has to sharp points one for the
centre and the other is scribing for
marking.
Right T if the statement is true and F
if it is false:
