Research Motivation
 The set of constraints such as bandwidth, delay and packet delivery ratio is
termed as QoS in Manet
 These QoS metrics should be supported for transmitting a packet of data in order
to support application requirements
Problem Definition
 Bandwidth estimation is a mechanism to determine the data rate available on a
network route
 The maximum possible data rate in absence of competing flows is termed as
bandwidth.
 Available bandwidth is the maximum attainable data rate for current flows

Aim and Objectives
 Select and use a route that will satisfy the application’s bandwidth requirement.
 Provide an effective, scalable on demand routing protocol so that end-to-end
communication with QoS requirement can be maintained.
 We aim at the development of routing protocols that provides Soft QoS or better
than best-effort service, rather than guaranteed hard QoS.
 Implement bandwidth estimation techniques.
 Implement route maintenance mechanism.
 To integrate bandwidth estimation technique and admission control scheme into
on demand routing protocol with data rate as the QoS requirement.
 Simulate QoS on demand routing protocol using network simulator (NS-2.35),
Ubuntu2 12.04 OS or on Windows7 using Cygwin as linux environment.

Research Methodology
 The beginning stage of research is concentrated on review of literature, books,
relevant research papers progress of IEEE task groups.
 Different routing protocols, MAC protocols and cross layer approach were
studied.
 During this phase different routing protocols, passive bandwidth estimation
techniques, MAC protocols, hidden and exposed node problem, radio
propagation model were examined.
 Review of literature was done by comparing the reactive QoS aware routing
protocols.
 The main difference involves the techniques for estimation of bandwidth and
admission control schemes.
 In the final phase development of routing protocols based on proposed
bandwidth estimation techniques, admission control and route repair
mechanisms have been implemented in order to analyze them for QoS
constraint included in this research
 DCMAC was also implemented based on channel partition
 The proposed methods and protocols are implemented and analyzed using NS-
2.35 4

Aim and Objectives  Select and use a route that will satisfy the application’s bandwidth requirement.  Provide an effective, scalable on demand routing protocol so that end-to-end communication with QoS requirement can be maintained.  We aim at the development of routing protocols that provides Soft QoS or better than best-effort service, rather than guaranteed hard QoS.  Implement bandwidth estimation techniques.  Implement route maintenance mechanism.  To integrate bandwidth estimation technique and admission control scheme into on demand routing protocol with data rate as the QoS requirement.  Simulate QoS on demand routing protocol using network simulator (NS-2.35), Ubuntu2 12.04 OS or on Windows7 using Cygwin as linux environment. 3

Research Methodology  The beginning stage of research is concentrated on review of literature, books, relevant research papers progress of IEEE task groups.  Different routing protocols, MAC protocols and cross layer approach were studied.  During this phase different routing protocols, passive bandwidth estimation techniques, MAC protocols, hidden and exposed node problem, radio propagation model were examined.  Review of literature was done by comparing the reactive QoS aware routing protocols.  The main difference involves the techniques for estimation of bandwidth and admission control schemes.  In the final phase development of routing protocols based on proposed bandwidth estimation techniques, admission control and route repair mechanisms have been implemented in order to analyze them for QoS constraint included in this research  DCMAC was also implemented based on channel partition  The proposed methods and protocols are implemented and analyzed using NS- 2.35 4
