Monetising
My Skill

My major skill which I use in my business is writing.
My uncle noticed at the age of 8 that I had the gift to
write and encouraged me to write more.
As a teenager I loved writing handwritten encouraging
notes to my friends.
I am so passionate about writing... I can write all day
long even if no one paid me! I started my 1st blog in
2006 and the 2nd one the following year. I blogged for
6 years before realising I could actually monetise it!
O_O
Background Gist
I started getting restless in my 9 to 5 job and felt God
telling me there was more he wanted me to do.
In 2011 I had started the Super Working Mum Blog.
In Jan 2013 I got laid off from work when I was 3
months pregnant with my 2nd child... I knew it was
time....go figure :)
So I started to explore the option of monetising my
skill of blogging and writing.
The Shift!
Now my writing has
diversified. I coach and
mentor women all over
the world. I also run
weekend retreats and
speak at events.
I have written three books
and one of my books is an
Amazon best seller. I have
also created a journal.
I will share what I did! :)
The Shift!
I researched and read lots of books on the subject
I wrote for magazines and other blogs
I created a free ebook and used that to attract my
audience to join my mailing list
The women on my mailing list began to like and trust me.
I listened to their problems, then I ran a LIVE event and
launched my first paid monthly membership group with
an introductory price to address a problem each month.
10 people joined. As the content + credibility of my group
grew, my prices grew.
I also ran free coaching/mentor SKYPE calls to build my
coaching skills and to gather information on what my
audience needed. Now I charge for it
Monetisation occurs as you build trust and solve
The process used to monetising my skills
FANTASTIC IDEA!!!!!
The more skills you can monetise, the more money
you will have for yourself and to advance God's
kingdom.
Like I said before, I have diversified from writing. I
have improved and monetise other skills such as
coaching, speaking, organising events.
All of these are transferable skills e.g I currently use
my organisational skills to plan my retreats, I can
choose to use those skills to help other people
organise their retreats at a fee. Though to be honest
my dream is to run my own retreat centre:)
My thoughts on monetising many skills
Improving the
quality of my skills
I DID THE FOLLOWING:
Spend quality time with God daily
Invest in my personal and spiritual
growth by reading my bible
+ books and listening to podcasts
Invested in my own personal business
coach (this made a HUGE difference)
I am currently part of a monthly paid
accountability and business coaching
group
YOU have to INVEST in yourself, if
you want to improve the quality of
your skills. There is no short cut.
