Moncalieri is a town of approximately 58,000 inhabitants located 8 kilometers south of Turin, Italy. It is notable for its 12th century castle which later became a favorite residence of the Italian royal family. Moncalieri was founded in 1228 as a refuge from attacks by a neighboring city and prospered due to its access to a river and bridge. In the 17th century, it was acquired by the House of Savoy and is today home to many technology companies.
