The monarch butterfly population has declined drastically over the last 16 years, with experts predicting the lowest number ever this year, due to the loss of 140 million acres of milkweed habitat since 1996. Planting just 5 to 10 milkweed plants in home gardens could help the monarch butterfly comeback by restoring its most important food and habitat.
