Please respond to students post!!!!!!
By. Mr. Watson
Dominant Culture is defined as a culture that is the most powerful, widespread, or influential
within a social or political entity in which multiple cultures are present. In today's current
American society, hip-hop culture is by far the most dominant culture and can also be seen in
other countries as well. During the postwar era of the 1950's, young and old alike followed
group norms rather than striking out on their own. once the war was over, traditional roles were
reaffirmed. Men expected to be the breadwinners; women, even when they worked, assumed
their proper place was at home.Television contributed to the homogenizing trend by providing
young and old with a shared experience reflecting accepted social patterns. Some of the values
and mores in a dominant culture are time and control, self-sufficiency, status, language, and
individualism.

Solution
The dominant culture is defined as the one which influences the larger part of social and political
circles, with its effects visible in ideologies, literature, music, customs, language, clothings, food
and individual actions and behaviors, and which is followed by masses and encompasses many
subcultures within it. In current society, this dominant culture reflects the norms that are
accepted and endorsed by larger population through menifestations in political scene, business,
artistic expressions, cinema, art, literature, sports to name a few, that is adopted by masses within
and outside the U.S.
The postwar era was the time when the people came together to build the economy through hard
work and passion, educational institutions came up, so did the entrepreneurs who built business
empires giving rise to capitalism. Many immigrants settled here in want of greener pastures and
to make a better future for their families. The progress in the fields of science, technology,
literature, art and music created icons. This created a dominant culture, seen by many as
"American dream" which encompassed many sub cultures and ideologies that mingled with the
most prominent one, giving rise to a stable, self sufficient nation with huge resources and
possibilities for everyone.
Soem of the values and mores of the dominant culture are individualism, self reliance, Unified
diversity and a collective effort by everyone contributing to build America, rising above the
barriers of race, descent and social status.

  • 2. Dominant Culture is defined as a culture that is the most powerful, widespread, or influential within a social or political entity in which multiple cultures are present. In today's current American society, hip-hop culture is by far the most dominant culture and can also be seen in other countries as well. During the postwar era of the 1950's, young and old alike followed group norms rather than striking out on their own. once the war was over, traditional roles were reaffirmed. Men expected to be the breadwinners; women, even when they worked, assumed their proper place was at home.Television contributed to the homogenizing trend by providing young and old with a shared experience reflecting accepted social patterns. Some of the values and mores in a dominant culture are time and control, self-sufficiency, status, language, and individualism. Many immigrants settled here in want of greener pastures and to make a better future for their families. The progress in the fields of science, technology, literature, art and music created icons. This created a dominant culture, seen by many as "American dream" which encompassed many sub cultures and ideologies that mingled with the most prominent one, giving rise to a stable, self sufficient nation with huge resources and possibilities for everyone.
