This study introduces a modified moth swarm algorithm (MMSA) to solve the optimal economic load dispatch (OELD) problem more efficiently than the classical moth swarm algorithm (MSA). The MMSA incorporates two key modifications: an improved mutation formula and the removal of the crossover technique, resulting in lower costs and greater stability in search ability across various tested power systems. Experiment results demonstrate that MMSA outperforms traditional methods, positioning it as a valuable tool for addressing OELD challenges.
