Historic Building Information Modelling (HBIM) is an approach to modeling historic buildings that develops full Building Information Models (BIMs) from remotely sensed data. It consists of 1) a library of reusable parametric objects based on historic architectural data, 2) a system for placing these library objects onto laser scan survey data, and 3) conservation documentation and analysis. Procedural HBIM is an advancement that uses shape grammars and rules from classical orders and pattern books to procedurally generate HBIM models with high accuracy, as demonstrated through a case study of modeling The Four Courts in Dublin.
