This document analyzes traffic flow on a 6.5 mile stretch of I-4 in downtown Orlando using CORSIM simulation software. It simulates existing conditions and proposes alternatives for medium and high density traffic. For the medium density scenario, trucks are restricted to the two right lanes, but this makes little difference compared to existing conditions. For high density, alternatives adding auxiliary lanes, ramp metering, and HOV lanes are analyzed. Ramp metering combined with HOV lanes shows the best improvement in reducing vehicle hours and increasing speeds compared to the base high density scenario.
