6. Mobiles Affect on Design
Many recent websites are leaning toward simple designs, this makes
viewing easier on small mobile screens.
Many websites are also adopting a single page design with only the
most important and basic info shown, making pages load much
faster.
Many sites also choose to create an original website and a mobile
version along side it.
Designers need to be sure mobile optimized sites are touch screen
friendly as smart phones and tablets are becoming highly popular.
Any companies not adopting some sort of mobile site option will miss
out on a large part of the population.

8. Mobile Web Done Right
http://m.digg.com
Digg.com uses a simple design that looks good, and
provides quick load times.
Digg.com also makes use of spacing which allows them
to provide lots of content without the cramping.
http://i.brightkite.com
Brightkite.com uses spacing and colors to create an
attractive mobile site.
Small icons are used to liven things up a bit
Brightkite also makes use of big navigation links
which work well with touch screens.
9. Mobile Web Done Wrong
http://www.photobucket.com
Photobucket’s mobile site can be considered sloppy when viewed
on a mobile device.
The site has a long loading time compared to other mobile sites.
The mobile site does not have the options or appearance of the non
mobile site.
http://reddit.com/mobile
Reddit.com has a strong mobile site it’s attractive,
and optimized for the mobile devices.
However, they have a huge problem. The content
linked to from Reddit.com is mostly formatted for
pc, making viewing on a mobile device a poor
experience.
10. Recommended Action
1. With the rapid and continuing growth in the use of mobile device my first
recommendation is that your company should develop a mobile site in the
very near future.
2. Consider if you would rather design a separate mobile site or make your
original site mobile friendly.
3. If you choose to make a separate mobile site make sure the design
provides only the most important information and navigation. Also make
use of spacing and colors to help avoid cluttering and make viewing easier.
4. If you choose to make your original site mobile friendly try to keep it
simple and relevant, this will keep load times to a minimum and make
navigation simple and easy for mobile users.
5. The mobile market is big and only getting big, going mobile is a big step
in the right direction for any company.
