- Before Jun 29th 2007 the mobile industry was moving steadily ahead.
- Like a fleet of market leading oiltankers they cruised the world.
- The iPhone changed all that. At first it was just regarded as an annoying speedboat trying to get some market attention. Today we know it has redefined an industry. Or rather still redefining it.
- Two and a half years ago Sony Ericson realised that they needed to adapt faster than they could just on their own. Together with Ericsson and Sweden's largest operator, TeliaSonera, they engaged in Teknopol’s startup initiative Mobile Heights Business Center. By promoting innovation in small independent companies they recognized an opportunity to get get access to more disruptive innovation. The startups welcomed an opportunity to get the extra power from the large multinational corporations on their way to success.
- Mobile Heights Business Center is an open innovation hub for entrepreneurs going to market and established industry seeking to re-innovate.
- We help startups with ideas evolve into viable business cases in 6 months through:… a continuous and committed focus on the entrepreneurs and their development.
- And2. … a people based collaboration with the industry officials
- We promote starting up lean, failing fast and cheap and creative business modeling.
- In 24 months we have enrolled 26 member startups, 7 of which from scratch, 8 of which earn revenue and 4 of which are profitable. Since mid 2011 the industry is a considerable funding source behind Mobile Heights Business Center.
- Our experiences and learnings have attracted interest from innovations hubs in Europe and Africa. And requests to share experiences from industries outside the mobile industry such as the food, paper and automotive industries. We had decided to make these experiences available as generic tools under the name Inn Sweden Business Center. So far it includes 8 individual methods to be combined into adapted innovation support.- 6 month program for speed- Power Hour for eye-to-eye collaboration between startups and high industry officials- Entrepreneur Screening – to make sure entrepreneurs have the right capabilities to grow- Team Development – to make sure they maintain these capabilities as they grow- Initial Customer Funding – offering business opportunities to fund early stages through paying customers- Ad Venture Day – for leads to business angels and VC.- IPR Bank – for generous access to industry patents and IP- Sustainability Screening – forsustatinability check We are primarily offering to help implement these experiences in other Swedish industries. Documentation is under development and our consulting expertise is available.
- We help oiltankers increasingly regard speedboats as useful tenders to explore the beaches they previously only assesed from a distance.
- And, by the way, speedboats are learning to organize themselves in faster and in larger formations, offering greater solutions!So watch out for startups.
